Do not disturb the snakes. Many people have been bitten just because they tried to kill, hunt or get closer to a venomous snake.
When walking outdoors avoid walking through tall grass or other tall growths unless you are wearing thick leather or plastic boots. Stay in cleared paths as much as possible. Keep with you a stick with which you can move the growth up ahead of you before passing through a spot.
Keep your hands and feet away from areas and spots that you cannot see clearly.
Be cautious when climbing rocks or trees while also avoiding getting close to water sources, lakes or drinking spots especially when surrounded by thick vegetation where snakes could be hiding in. These places are used as shelters and food hunting spots for a lot of snakes during the warm months of the year.
Do not cut the bitten area. Possible tissue damage can cause bigger issues by spreading the venom to the entire body.
Never try to suck out the venom by mouth.
Call for help urgently.
Wash the wound with soap and clean water.
Immobilize the bitten area and keep it bellow the height of the heart.
Immediate transport of the victim to the nearest Medical center.
